A Fresh Start with Antipodes Skincare

Antipodes Skincare

Antipodes Skincare

Antipodes is a certified organic and premium natural skincare brand based in New Zealand and is the first natural skincare brand that I discovered. Even if it was not love at the first use between us, I bought a few products from them and plan to continue doing so. If you want to know my thoughts about their products, keep on reading!

I bought my first Antipodes products in December last year. At that time, I put two items in my cart: the Antipodes Divine Face Oil and the famous Aura Manuka Honey Mask. I first tried the Aura Manuka Honey Mask, and after a couple of times, what I can say is that it is not suited for my skin! It contains Manuka Honey (extracted from beehives on tea tree plants) and I found out that my skin is sensitive to anything related to tea tree. I ended up giving it to a fellow skincare enthusiast that I met through Instagram, in hope that it would better suit her skin condition.

After the disappointment from the Aura Manuka Honey Mask came the joy with the Divine Face Oil, which instantaneously stole my heart! At my first try of the Oil, I disliked the scent. However, it did not stop me from using it. The texture is light and has a yellow tone. Since it was my first time using a face oil, I did not know what to expect. The magic came when I poured 2 to 3 drops on top of my husband cystic acnes as well as mine. We quickly could behold how fast it helped to cure acnes. Surprisingly, it gives a faster result on my husband’s skin. His skin absorbs it faster and within 2-3 days the acnes becomes flat and does not leave any marks. In my case, it takes a week to become flat and still leaves a dark mark (my skin is way darker skin than his).

Nevertheless, it still helps my skin to recover and I use it religiously every night and intermittent usage during the day! After finishing the first bottle, my skin was plumped, acnes tend to heal faster, and definitely left less dark spots.

Antipodes Skincare

Antipodes Worship Serum

After seeing how great this product was, even during my worst skin condition, I was looking for new benefits that Antipodes Skincare products could offer. For my second purchase from this brand, I ended up buying the Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum since I heard antioxidant is a great nutrient for skin. This time around, I was already prepared for their strong scent and it did not bother me at all! The texture was super light and spread easily on my skin. The serum is quickly absorbed and my skin feel refreshed after using it. It has a brown color and smells like herbs. I used 2 to 3 drops every morning and the bottle lasted for four months.

Since I started using it, I discovered that my skin can quickly fight when whiteheads or pustules arise. It takes less than a week to heal and I start to better understand why we need antioxidants, not just by eating vegetables and fruits, but also with the help of serums. Antioxidant serum rose to the top of my skincare shopping list from that moment!

Before my Worship serum reached the bottom of the glass, I bought the Chia and Kiwi Seed Superfood Serum. I found this product from an Australia-based beauty blogger who also use it. Her skin condition was dry just like mine at that time, so I decided to give it a go and observe the results.

I am totally in love with this serum! It has changed my skin from dry to normal. There is not a single day when I do not use this product! I use it day and night, every time the same, about two drops per usage. Sometimes I use it together with the Worship serum because I know my skin needs it, especially before the hormone imbalance attack or during the visit of Aunt Flo.

I am still using it now, and I am thinking to buy it again when winter is coming (I plan to be in Europe during Christmas). It has a light texture, quite similar with the Worship serum, but with a yellow tone similar to the Divine Face Oil. I see it as a hybrid between a serum and an oil, a bit like a 2-in-1 product. However, I still add an elixir or a moisturizer after I use it, depending on my skin condition. Sometimes I just use this serum and then go to sleep. If I do so, the next morning I find my skin not plumped but not dry neither.

These three products were suited to most of my skin conditions and came in 30 mL with an amber glass bottle. They are easy to carry when I have to travel and until now, none of them have ever leaked. After opening each product, you can keep using it for the next six months. It is advised to keep it below 21-degree Celsius (that I did not follow). It also has a Vegetarian Society Approved label. You can find the ingredients at the end of this post.

I bought them from three different outlets, Divine Face Oil from here, Worship Serum from here. I did not ship these two to Indonesia, as it is difficult to import skincare products. For Chia Kiwi Seed Serum from local online shop in here.

The next product that I want to try is the Joyous Protein Rich Night Replenish Serum and Apostle Serum.

  1. Antipodes Nature

Thank you for sharing Antipodes skincare Hera, you have some beautiful images.

We are glad you are loving Antipodes nature skincare, we love reading these stories, and great to hear your husband is benefiting as well.

The Aura Manuka Honey Mask is made from antibacterial manuka honey, which is from the manuka plant only grown in New Zealand. The Tea Tree is a related tree and only grows in Australia. There is no Tea Tree in our Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It does also have Pohutukawa and the pure plant fragrance of Vanilla and mandarin, maybe you reacted to one of these? Without knowing your skincare history we could not tell you why you reacted to the Aura.

Hi Antipodes Skincare, thanks for reading my blog!

Regarding the Aura Manuka Honey Mask, my understanding of Manuka Bee came from a few articles I read about it. For sure, nothing better than an input from you guys directly! Thanks a lot for taking the time to share that information 😉
At the time I used the mask, my skin condition was normal to oily, and I could observe 1 or 2 whiteheads after using it. Maybe my interpretation of my skin reaction was incorrect but I still wanted to share my experience. I and my husband will keep looking for your products that fit with our skin conditions! And I hope you will have a store in Indonesia soon.
