Pharmacie Haul! It was the only activity I planned since my visa to France got accepted. Well, I did Lush Haul, Carrefour Haul to get Le Petit Marseilleais and friends, and off course Sephora Haul at last. What can I say, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right?
French pharmacy is different than other drug stores here or anywhere in the world, especially the skin care product. I have checked several blog posts and pharmacy online shop to know what product suit with my skin need. But I know I did not want to jot down or made a wish list since every pharmacy has a different product to offer, so I did not want to disappoint myself if I couldn’t find it. And it was a right decision.
The day had come when I stepped into the first pharmacy, it is located in Pibrac (20 minutes from Toulouse city centre). There was plenty of Nuxe and Avene products, but they have limited shelves. I grabbed one pot of Nuxe rêve de miel lip balm only.
I went to many pharmacies scattered in Toulouse, Carcasonne and Aix-en-Provence. Yup no Paris this time. There was different in price and product variety in every pharmacy. The best is directly go to Parapharmacie. Parapharmacie is bigger than Pharmacie. You can find them in the city central or centre commercial (Mall). Usually, they have a slightly lower price (one up to three euros) and plenty of products. My favorites are Parapharmacie at Centre Commercial Blagnac in Toulouse and Parapharmacie Baldy Mejean in Carcasonne.
Here is what I got, mostly skincare products
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum 30 mL (€ 37.95)
I used this since December 22nd,2015, right away after I bought it. It is my first serum so I cannot compare with other serum with a similar claim. I use in my AM and PM routine, sometimes I skip if I use a sheet mask from Korean brand. After using almost half of the bottle, I can say my skin tone slightly brighter and my acne scar diminish a little. But my dark spot from sun damage still there. I think I will repurchase if I am back to France.
Noviderm Boréade LP 30 mL (€10.70)
I just used it once so far. It has Water and Lactic Acid as first and second ingredient. I felt an intense tingling first time used and the next day I got break out. So I stop and plan to continue later. Maybe my face just not use to with Lactic Acid, so I have to introduce slowly.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ (€9.61)
This one is a holy grail for many people, not for me yet. At the first time, I used on all over my face and felt a strong tingling. The next day no break out, I continue to use it but only on top of the blemish. I do not use it regularly yet.
Avene Cleanance Spot Treatment (€ 7.51)
The package similar like Colourpop Lippie Stix, in a slim pen. I used already a couple of times to new blemish. It helps. However, it has a different texture than other acne treatment I have tried so, I am not sure how much I should apply.
Eye and Lips
Nuxe Rêve de Miel Baume Levres (€7.90 – €8.30)
I bought the first tube at Pibrac pharmacie, it costs €8.30. Unfortunately, the lid was broken due to my clumsy. But the pot still fine so I keep using it. Since the lid is not functioned well, the texture slightly changes. I think it is because the high humidity in here. I will stop use it and open a new pot today. I did not find a pot with different colour lids like I saw on Instagram. So I did not buy more as I want to have colourful lids.
Uriage Bariésun Stick SPF30 (€3.71) – Haven’t opened yet. It has Titanium Dioxide listed almost in the last ingredient.
Nuxe Masque Purifiant Doux 50 mL (€14.31) – Haven’t opened yet.
Caudalie Eau de Raisin 75 mL (€4.60)
Like it although I am not a fan with the grape smell.
Taaj Eau Micellaire Himalaya 100 mL (€4.80) – Haven’t opened yet.
Avene Eau Thermale 300 mL (€5.60) – Haven’t opened yet.
Klorane Shampoo Capucine (Nasturtium) 200 mL (€4.90)
Suggested by the lady in the pharmacie, I bought this because I thought my hair scalp has dandruff. I used two times a week. Cannot say much. Still scratch my scalp over time.
Elmex Sensitive 100 mL (€4.60)
I bought it because this does not contain SLS. I haven’t used it as my other toothpaste still half full.
Caudalie Gentle Conditioning Shampoo 200 mL (€ 6.60)
I haven’t used it again since I am back to Bali, only tried a couple of times when I was in France. When I was there, my scalp does not produce much oil like in here, so this shampoo still suitable.
Klorane Shampoo Pivoine (Peony) 200 mL (€5.11)
Love the smell!! It claims to give comfort and relief for itching and/or irritation scalps. Unfortunately, I still suffer from the irritation.
